Ajax Comment Submission

Hi all, just downloaded and installed Drigg, the setup was painless. Its my first experience with Drupal and I'm quite impressed by the functionality. I'm in the planning stages of launching a new site and I first tried Pligg out, but there just seems to be too many bugs/problems among other things. I would love to use Drigg on my site, but I would really like to see Ajax enabled commenting added.

I think the current comment submission process is a bit tedious, especially if you want the option to preview turned on. A key to getting users to participate is making participation as painless as possible, so I really think immediate commenting without a reload would encourage users to think "wow that was easy, I'll comment more often."

Just thought I would get the idea out there and see what other users thought. If people seem to be up for it, I'll submit it as a feature request. I have lots of PHP coding experience, but none with Drupal/Drigg. I would be willing to take this on, but might not be the best person considering my lack of knowledge of the way Drupal works.

Hey merc!

Long time no post! Well, I thought you'd be interested in the following....(just added it to one my my drupal sites!)

http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/modules/comment_aja...

it's in development, but it's pretty darn solid! I havnt had a single complaint or error output so far!

Does it work alongside

Does it work alongside CAPTCHA module? Because I absolutely need CAPTCHA module since I allow anonymous commenting.

IT's a Drupal issue...

Hi,

I would _love_ to see an ajax comment posting in Drupal too!
I think it's incredible that Drupal still doesn't allow it.

There are several semi-projects out there. However, none of them actually works. Drupal 6 doesn't allow it either.

There is no point in filing a request for Drigg, since it's a Drupal issue :-(

I am afraid we are stuck until somebody develops it. Also, this is something that needs modifications to comment.module directly, I believe. Or maybe not. Well, i guess what I am trying to say is that I am not even sure how to implement it :-(

Sorry about that... with Drigg I inherit Drupal as a whole, with its power AND its weaknesses...

Merc.

Bummer...

Oh well, thanks for the concise reply. Sounds like a feature that has a good chance of being added to Drupal soon.

No worries... and let's keep our fingers crossed.
I would love this feature for my Drupal sites...

Have u tried disqus? There is a drupal disqus.module by Rob Loach. Your drigg and disqus will make a great match I guess.

Interesting!

Hi,

This is IMMENSELY interesting.
Is this about Ajax comments? Can you please add some info here in these forums?

Merc.

Yes, It appears to be the AJAX comment module you've been hoping for.

It has a demo: http://www.robloach.net/node/109

I'm very impressed. Very similar to Digg's comment system.

Does it work well...?

Hi,

Does it work well? And does it work well in a drigg site?
