How to Disable Archived?
Posted March 15th, 2008 by ilya
I received these suggestions from one of my visitors:
"I noticed the archive only went back 6 weeks. It may be a good idea to keep all old stories. I know this may use more database space but it will generate more traffic. More pages = more traffic."
Does anyone knows how to disable the archiving process? Is it possible?
"You can also add the description of the story to the meta description (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=+site:www.oddnews.org+oddnews.org"
I believe that this is not implemented yet and it should be added to the feature request list as soon as it will be possible. Am I correct?
To hide or display Archived
To hide or display the Archived section, http://www.example.com/admin/settings/drigg and scroll down, theres a check box thats labeled "Hide the "archived" menu entry". for metatags, which is somewhat useless for google ranking, from my understanding, I've been using "Meta Tags". Hope that helps some.
Archived
Hi,
Archived news actually contains all of the news. It doesn't go back 6 weeks.
If you take out the menu option (as Silvano's suggestion), you will really want to have a link to the archive URL in your site (in the theme), or Google won't index those pages (well, not easily, and not all of them anyway)
