Similar stories only showing up on Preview
Posted June 25th, 2008 by jeb69
I'm not sure if anyone else has come across this. When I installed the latest version of Drigg the similar stories no longer appear when entering a scoop. I could swear in the older version they would show up right away. Now they only appear when doing a Preview (before Submit). Any ideas?
Thanks for help - more details on similar stories issue
I found these settings in the admin/settings/drigg/drigg_rl
-------------
Related links submit form
How many related links to show for a story in submit form: *
Show the article teasers while displaying the related links in submit form
-------------
However, even having it on does not display the related stories while in submitting the scoop.
Maybe someone else can clarify. While in the submit scoop page, AFTER the headline, url and description are entered it would display the related stories (10 seems to be default).
In the newer Drigg version, those only appear when you click the "Preview" button. At least in my install.
I wonder, is there a way to force a preview on scoop submissions? That way users have to see similar stories?
All I can say
I played with this on my site and found two things that might be of help. My similar stories only appear after I have chosen a category and added tags. And, maybe more importantly, they don't appear for every newly entered scoop. Only those that it deems has stories that are similar to it.
Do you already have a large collection of scoops submitted to your site? At least enough for it system to definitely find something similar?
Other than that I won't be able to help as I am using a different version of Drigg than you.

John

Question
Are you saying that they appear as you are submitting the scoop and then are not there when viewing the created scoop? Or are you saying they are not there at all when creating the scoop?
Since it is ajax it should appear as you are typing in the categories and tags to the new scoop. I am not using the latest version of Drigg so I cannot test this out myself.
If you have this (I took out the < and > so it would post):
?php if (module_exists('drigg_rl')){ ?
Similar stories
?php print drigg_rl_related_links_get_html($node->title.' '.$node->body, $node->nid, 5, FALSE); ?
?php } ?
In your node-drigg.tpl.php file they should be there upon creation.
Additionally you can edit the settings here: http://yoursite.com/admin/settings/drigg/drigg_rl - So make sure those are correct as well.
Sorry if that wasn't of any help.

John

The similar stories don't appear...
when you are entering a scoop. You are right, they should appear when entering keywords, and did with drigg v1. But not when I installed the second version.
I checked for the code you suggested in both my theme, and the default drigg theme but could not find. Any other thoughts? My site is http://www.allhdnews.com/
