I want to create a drigg site, should I wait for Drupal 6 support?

Hello,
I'd like to create a new site with drigg and start configuring it, but I'd like to know if it is worth wait for a drupal 6 release or if such a release is still unlikely to be in the next few days/weeks ?

What is the status on this? Will it include new bugs? What would you do if you were me, would you think it is way safer to start with a drigg based on drupal 5 now and see about upgrading later?

Release day

Hi Merc.,

Just wanted to ask you if the release day will still be Nov. 5th. I finished a customized design 3 weeks ago, but decided to wait for the 6.x version.

I'll appreciate if you can provide a quick reply to either wait more days or do the launch with the current version.

Thanks for your time.

Augusto

Release Day

Ditto Augusto's comment. Even an updated expectation would be helpful...

Hello! Having nothing to do

Hello!
Having nothing to do with its development, I would nevertheless give you an estimation date of 30th november, be ready to start at this date or even before, it's only in a few weeks time.

Hope this helps.

Merc now said on Drigg's

Merc now said on Drigg's issue page that the Drigg for Drupal 6 is being released as we speak and will be available soon, like in a few hours, but now there's no seo friendly path aliases yet and the time is to check for new bugs introduced by this version. So you can test it, and report bugs, but the end of this month will be an excellent time to really start a new site with it!

Hey, no need to reply anymore, as if....

Sorry I was away

Hi,

Sorry, I was away.
Humm it's a good question. The porting of Drigg is happening, but it's _huge_. It's 12000 lines of code. So... it's a tricky one. If you can wait 3 weeks, and run the risk of waiting for 6, then I'd say definitely wait.

Bye,

Merc.

Drigg for Drupal 6; yet?

Merc;

I had such a problem getting drigg (and drupal) to work properly on ixwebhosting, I decided to try another host based on many recommendations from others at the drupal forums. (it was really set up on their end of the apache, and very slow support)

So, I set up a new hosting account at bluehost, and drupal installation was incredibly simple (two clicks), however it only had the option to install drupal 6.4. The only reason I am installing is to run Drigg...

So, any news on when the core Drigg module will be available (even as a development snapshot) for drupal 6?

It _should_ be soon

Hi,

I need it badly too...
It's in the hands of the guys of CMS Web Services pty ldt... I am waiting for a tested port. I hope it's soon -- I am pinging them right now.

Sorry about this...

Merc.

Good To Hear

Merc;

Thanks for letting me know. I am basically sitting on my hands until it is released. I could look for another solution, but I think this will be the best one, as it looks like it will allow me the flexibility I'll need. Any way I can get a quick email when it is ready to go? I'll still check in every few days, but if you already have a list...

If not, no worries. Thank so much for you hard work on drigg. Once I am up and running, I'll certainly donate to the cause.

Regards,
brian

It's now meant to be

It's now meant to be released before 5th november.

You will now

Hi,

When it's ready to go, you'll hear about it,, guaranteed :-D

Merc.

Thank you for replying, with

Thank you for replying, with a good news to me, at least you're not going to release it today like I was expecting, that is only a short time after I finished installing and configuring my site. :-)

I've started with Drigg 5 and will think twice before upgrading to 6 now :-) I'll wait until you iron out the first bugs introduced in the Drigg 6 version :-)

Cheers,
