few questions before i use drigg
Posted January 26th, 2008 by dadaas
hi i was using pligg so far and im kinda disapointed with it, bugs are coming from clear sky to pligg.
Now im wondering if drigg is better, i mean, is tehmplate changing easy?
does it have few good modules?
does Drigg have great RSS importer with cron function?
please answer me and im ready to use it.
Extra note
Hi,
Thanks DriggOut!
The pressure for me right now is to make Drigg bug-free. I have TONS of feature requests hanging there right now, but I am not starting of them till I know that Drigg doesn't have any major bugs. I thought it had reached this point last week. And yet, today, I have fixed another bug that i considered major. So there...
One question was unanswered:
> does Drigg have great RSS importer with cron function?
No, it doesn't. There is an open feature request for it, and something (rek2) is actually working on it:
http://drupal.org/node/203587
Drigg might not be finished features-wise. HOWEVER, I am managing to correct every single bug that is found pretty much immediately. To me, solid software is better than buggy software with a million features.
I am also open to bounties.
Bye,
Merc.
Well first of all...
> does Drigg have great RSS importer with cron function?
No, it doesn't. There is an open feature request for it, and something (rek2) is actually working on it:
ACTUALLY... YES it does now :-D
Merc.
I came here from Pligg and
I came here from Pligg and yes, drigg is much better.
First off, it's built on Drupal so the base of it is more stable and has been proven on many sites.
Drigg is pretty much maintained by one person as of now, I can only imagine the workload this puts him under (and I hope more authors are able to help with it) but it does give the script a more cohesive feel.
Drigg is much less buggy than pligg. Many modules available for drupal.
Templates are still a soft spot, there are no real drigg-ready templates. However, if you can edit CSS then it's not really difficult to make changes yourself. Also you can edit the sidebars header etc. from within the script and add code/modules- no need to edit the template files by hand.
I hope that helps...
Are their any limitations with Drigg and Drupal Modules?
I have not had an opportunity to install Drigg as of yet. I have been playing around with Pligg somewhat and find it to be quite interesting.
I think Drupal as a CMS is pretty strong. I was unaware of all the features functionalities and addons that are available as of recently.
Will all the Drupal modules work with Drigg?
Are their any limitations as to what you can do with Drigg that is available with Drupal?
From what I am reading the only limitation is managing the template or layout.
Thanks
Try it...
Hi,
Drupal modules will work fine with Drigg. However, the best thing to do is... try it.
I can tell you though that templating in Drigg is DEAD EASY.
I changed the template for Pligg a year or so ago, and can see why you are worried. Drigg is Drupal, and changing Drupal templates is really simple.
Bye!
Merc.
